Did the WT totally "luck out" with World War I starting in 1914?
by lepermessiah inmy family is still fixated on the 1914 date, simply because world war i started that year.. i told them i will agree it is a significant year in world history, but that the 1914 date as presented by jw's is based on lies and charlatanry.. i said "i think the wt really lucked out with 1914 with wwi starting that year - it keeps most jw's stuck on that date" .
the standard answer is "well, that was the year everything went haywire"...... let the circular reasoning continue .

I thought about the asexual people too
I figured that they would still be male and female couldn't imagine what an asexual body looked like. And since everyone now had drop dead gorgeous bodies and perfect love no jealousy And since Jehovah made males and females to copulate compliment each other WELL it stands to reason and it's in the bible. wait on Jehovah" mental file
Love that expression Sappy. So why did we wait? I've asked myself that question and I can remember a time during my study when I stopped questioning and started trusting the FDS believing as I did that it was faithfull to its commission. Having put my faith in the Org when I finaly began to do research, I felt very uncomfortable with what I was learning; that they lied to me partiularly their revised history on 1914 that was one hook that got me in...... that Jehovah had revealed this date to the Bible students in advance

Come to think of it, I couldn't swallow the claimed fulfillments listed in the Revelations book, What sounded in the bible like earth shattering events that you would think the whole world would witness applied to them . I'm sure I was not the only one who thought this but none of us ever spoke up. How many times was that fairy tale book studied and expected to be taken seriously?

A factor that is relevant and that needs to be considered is when they had sex or Rather how often. Male sperm die quickly while female sperm can live up to 3 days. So if intercourse occurs the day the woman becomes fertile there is a higher probability that she will conceive a boy ' It is not the same as tossing a coin

I had a happy marriage for 20years then about a year after I was dis fellowshipped and my wife was publicly reproved the poison began to take hold. An emotional distance that grew worse every day. She would have this look on her face, one that said I was a threat and not to be trusted. Before we went to bed she would say things like "Your not going to rape me are you?" No! I thought, never have before why should I start now. Where are you getting these thoughts? What makes you think I would ? Many mornings I would wake up at 2 or 3 am and go for a drive unable to sleep beside this cold hearted stranger. The Elders were in my bed whispering in my wifes ear "you cant trust him he will harm you he has left Jehovah".
Today I know your pain I've felt it when I was losing the woman I fell in love with and I was helpless to do anything about it. , Emotionally distraught I sought professional help. It became hopeless and I was advised to move out that it was not safe living in the same house with her So I did The kids chose to come with me the relief was instant I had made a choice I was focused........ was able to concentrate on my work and being Mr Mum making my sons lunch for school. I would wrap the sandwiches in greaseproof paper and put them in a brown paper bag like my mum did when I was young. Life was good again
I often wonder did she love me or a witness clone. As I said when I was interviewed for a TV pro gramme re the witnesses " When I ceased to be loyal to the WT My wife ceased to be loyal to me"
Sorry I can't offer you much hope Today There are some success stories but I think not many

Anyway as others will tell you Your not dealing with a rational mindset. So keep this in mind when responding to your mother. Turn the guilt trip around so she feels responsible for stumbling you. Like Mum I'd really like to believe that Jehovah's people are the happiest and most loving people in the world but I don't feel the love when you call me a murderer. Give her hope that you may return if only she treated you better.
Never attack her beliefs this is her security. Work within the frame of her mindset be creative Like Mum doesn't the bible say whom Jehovah loves he disciplines that I like the prodigal son may need to learn from experience how bad the world is before I return If she is anxious about how long it will take tell her not to worry to trust in Jehovah and pray that it will not be long

I decided long ago that any God that would support them and do what they expect is an idiot and not worth knowing. I'm currently living in China: over one and a half billion people are going to die cause they never seen much less read a Watchtower ?
